We spent part of Thanksgiving Day cutting firewood. This is a yearly project and we had hoped to cut enough for the year...not sure if we accomplished that! We love having the option of heating our house with the wood stoves, although most often we simply start a fire for the extra warmth and comfort. There is no other source of heat that is as comforting and warm!
Raina eating bark...no, I did not take this picture...I was in the bush hauling logs. Yuck!!

Mmmmm... bark.
Your life sounds so wholesome and cozy and peaceful. Maybe I need to move to the country.
Paige, I highly recommend country living! At the end of a crazy day, or even after a wonderful vacation, we come home to peace and quiet. Living in the country means I have to think ahead for meals, etc. as we can't just drive into town at the drop of a hat. It does mean we/our kids sometimes miss out on some extra curricular activities simply because it can mean a good hours drive for each activity. However, that also has a benefit...we're not as busy as we would otherwise be! Can you tell I LOVE the country??? :)
Oh, by the way, Saskatchewan has some reasonable prices when it comes to acreages and we could use a great plastic surgeon in town! :) Having said that, I've always dreamt of moving to AB...somewhere between Edmonton and Red Deer...there are some awesome places in that area and the countryside is gorgeous!
