Prairie Lily and Pike Lake...Again!

We made a spontaneous decision after church one Sunday that Aunt Helen was at our house, to take a cruise on the Prairie Lily.  It's one of those local attractions that we had often wanted to try, but it's a bit costly when multiplied by 7, so we usually found something else to do.  This time we threw caution to the wind and decided to go for it!  And it was worth every penny!

The next day Dawson was back at our house (those of us with kids his age all take turns having him over).  We had a few issues with our pool this year and didn't get it running till the middle of July, so in the intense heat we headed to Pike Lake again.  We hadn't been there in a few years and totally expected the older boys to want to go to the water slides.  We usually only go to the beach, as it's no extra cost.  I gave the kids the option...beach and kayaks or the waterslides.  To my amazement they picked the beach and kayaks, even though they knew they would only be kayaking for an hour.  And to my amazement they spent the rest of the time swimming in the lake...and building this!

They used the inflatable boat to fill the cavity with water and then broke the dam.  It really was amazing!

Being cool!...like only teens/preteens can be!

The girls with their castle.

Jackson's favorite part was squirting the boys...especially Dawson
